The Westwood Patriots never trailed Friday night, breezing past Hancock 63-32 in West PAC girls basketball action.
Westwood scored the first nine points of the game, forcing a Hancock timeout. The Patriots led by as many as 14 points early on but the Bulldogs ended the first quarter on a 5-0 run to get within single digits.
Westwood didn’t allow another point until the 3:37 mark in the second quarter and led 31-18 at halftime. The Patriots pulled away in the third quarter; outscoring Hancock 16-5 in the frame. The Pats defense shutout Hancock for over six minutes in the fourth quarter and forced 11 steals in the contest. Every Patriot player recorded a point, led by Madelyn Koski’s game-high 17 points. Tessa Leece finished with 15 and Karlie Patron added ten.
Westwood is now 7-0 and returns to action on Thursday at Calumet. The Patriots also won 56-40 in the junior varsity contest.
