Escanaba led wire-to-wire as they earned a 59-43 win at Westwood on non-conference boys basketball action.
Escanaba scored the first eight points of the game and built a 16-4 lead but Westwood’s Zach Carlson knocked down a pair of three-pointers to get the Pats within six after a quarter. Carlson then connected on a jumpshot to cut the deficit to four but that’s as close as Westwood would get for the rest of the evening. Escanaba extended their lead to 33-21 at halftime and 48-30 after three quarters.
Carlson led all scorers with 20 points while Ty Alderton added ten. Esky’s Connor Smale drained six three-pointers before halftime en route to a 19-point performance. Westwood is now 6-3 and hosts West Iron County on Monday.
