The Westwood boys basketball team never trailed Friday night, racing past Manistique 57-31 in Mid Peninsula Conference action.
The Patriots scored the first seven points of the game and raced out to a 15-2 lead after a quarter. The Emeralds rallied to get within six in the final minute of the first half but Zach Beckman knocked down a baseline jumper with seven seconds left to give Westwood a 24-16 lead at the break.
The Patriots scored eight of the next ten points to open the third quarter and led by double digits for good, outscoring Manistique 21-9 in the frame.
Taylor Dellangelo led all scorers with 17 points, Zach Carlson added 14 and Ty Alderton ten. Westwood is now 8-5 and visits Negaunee on Wednesday.
