Second Half Surge Sends Westwood Past Iron Mountain

Karlie Patron and Madelyn Koski each recorded a double-double to propel Westwood past Iron Mountain 60-30 on Monday.

Iron Mountain scored a layup on their opening possession but were held without a field goal for the next five minutes. Westwood led 16-5 after one quarter but the Mountaineers scored the first four points of the second frame to force a timeout.

Iron Mountain went on another run, trimming the Patriot advantage to six points with under a minute left in the first half but Jillian Koski knocked down a three-pointer and two free throws in the final 53 seconds to put Westwood up 25-14 at the break.

The Patriots outscored Iron Mountain 21-7 in the third quarter and the lead never dipped below 20 points the rest of the way.

Patron scored a career-high 25 points on 12/14 shooting and added 12 rebounds. Koski finished with 13 points and ten assists. Westwood is now 11-0 and travels to Negaunee on Friday.
