The Westwood girls basketball team fell from the ranks of the unbeaten on Friday, falling 46-36 at Negaunee.
Negaunee shot 100% from the field through their first four offensive possessions, racing out to an early 9-4 lead. The Miners extended their advantage to 17-8 after one quarter and scored the first bucket of the second frame.
Westwood responded with a 14-3 run to tie the game but Negaunee scored the final eight points of the second quarter and led 30-22 at halftime.
Both defenses tightened up in the second half and Negaunee carried a 36-30 lead into the fourth quarter. But the Miners scored the first five points of the frame and held the Pats scoreless for over four minutes to pull away.
Madelyn Koski scored 16 points while Karlie Patron added 14 to lead Westwood. The Patriots are now 11-1 and welcome Gwinn on Tuesday.
