The Westwood basketball teams both took down Manistique on Friday.
The Patriot girls cruised past the Emeralds 56-19 to start the evening. Manistique led 4-3 but Westwood responded with a 14-0 run and led by double digits the rest of the way. The Patriots shutout the Emeralds in the second quarter and scored 27 of the last 31 points in the first half to lead 30-8 at the break.
Madelyn Koski led the way with 13 points while Mallory Leece added a career-high nine. Natalie Prophet finished with nine points, ten rebounds and seven blocks in her varsity debut. Westwood improves to 15-1 and welcomes Marquette on Tuesday.
The Patriot boys never trailed en route to a 62-48 win over Manistique. The Patriots led 16-9 after one quarter and increased their advantage to 35-20 at halftime. Westwood stretched the lead to 19 points after three quarters and Manistique could get no closer than 12 in the fourth frame.
Ty Alderton and Taylor Dellangelo each scored 16 points while Nathan Beckman added 12 to pace the Pats. Westwood is now 10-5 and hosts Iron Mountain on Monday.
