The Westwood boys basketball team held Iron Mountain to their lowest offensive output of the season Friday night but it wasn’t enough as the Mountaineers topped the Patriots 53-35 in Mid Peninsula Conference action.
Iron Mountain scored the first four points of the game but Ty Alderton got the Patriots within one with an old fashioned three-point play. The Mountaineers led 13-7 after one quarter but Westwood capped a 9-4 run with a Marcus Boase three-pointer to get within one possession.
However, Iron Mountain scored the final four points of the half to take a 23-16 lead into the break. The Mountaineers opened the second half on a 10-5 run and led by double digits for the rest of the night.
Taylor Dellangelo led Westwood with 12 points while Alderton added six. The Patriots are now 4-2 and host Gladstone on Tuesday.
